Learn English Like You Learn Japanese
Spark English
At the private school I founded, Bellevue Children's Academy, I created a unique English curriculum inspired by the Japanese language learning process to help American children learn English.
This method is divided into two parts.
A systematic method of English grammar and composition inspired by the Japanese textbook for first graders.
By using these, American children were able to read and compose sentences on their own, and quickly achieved an average English level two grades above.
This time, we are trying to introduce this method to Japanese children who are learning English. Until now, most of the English learning methods in Japan have been imported from overseas and have relied on memorization, but I am convinced that this method, which was created based on learning Japanese, will produce revolutionary results. If we can provide a learning process for learning English in the same way as learning Japanese, I thought that since both Japanese and English are spoken languages, they would be able to learn English without difficulty and with certainty.
First of all, the equivalent of the Japanese AIUEO chart is the English AIUEO chart. Just as you learned Japanese one sound at a time, you will do the same with English. The process is roughly divided into four stages. 1. Short vowel 2. Long vowel 3. Digraph 4. Blend At each stage, you will be able to read 10 short stories on your own.
Since they understand the relationship between sounds and spelling, they can read and write what they can. In addition, using these short stories, we will introduce the grammar of "what is it" and "how is it" (Be verbs) and "what is it doing" (general verbs). At the end, they will add decorative words (adjectives, adjectival verbs) to the basic sentences to create longer sentences. The English ability of a 2nd or 3rd grade student at a local elementary school in the United States is equivalent to the level of the Eiken Grade 2 in Japan.

Learn Japanese-style arithmetic in English
Spark Math
The 1-minute Timing Sheets* designed for each grade level are personalized math practice curriculums that allow children to progress at their own learning level and speed. Instead of relying on memorization, children acquire the ability to code (convert) objects and symbols (numbers).
Students will understand how to decompose numbers up to 10, and that addition and subtraction up to 20 are calculations based on the number 10, and will view calculation ability as a tool of arithmetic.
In addition to timing calculation learning that is suited to each individual's level, the curriculum in the classroom focuses on mathematical literacy, and allows children to explore how mathematics is used in daily life, how to learn it, and how to find ways to solve problems. By linking algebra learning with geometry learning, students will improve their abilities in a spiral fashion every year.
Traditionally, educational materials for 4- and 5-year-olds tend to provide simple concepts that are repeated from the perspective of their young age. Even young children, who live in the same world as adults, naturally experience the concept of touching three-dimensional shapes and separating things. Early childhood is an important time to firmly acquire a sense of mathematics through fun learning activities in order to build the foundation for future mathematics learning.
The local school he founded was accredited with baccalaureate certification, so the concept of baccalaureate education is also incorporated.

For Middle and High School Students Aiming to Study in the U.S.
Spark College Prep
When people aim to study abroad, they tend to focus on learning English, but what they often overlook is their math scores. A dedicated person who specializes in teaching math to Japanese junior and senior high school students in the United States will give you advice on how to utilize math, which is a strength of Japanese people, in the exam and give you an advantage in the entrance exam for American universities. This class will add math skills to your English skills, aiming to study or advance to college in the United States, making use of the academic foundation you have gained in Japan. We highly recommend you take this class.

Experience American life
Spark Study Tour
This tour will also be a great boost for anyone who is embarking on learning English in order to further improve themselves in their retirement years and be able to speak English.
It's also a great way to reward yourself at the halfway point of your English studies. This local life experience and learning tour is a little different from other tours, as it is full of events that only we who live in the area can provide, including the use of private clubs, cooking experiences with private chefs, and winery tours.
Children begin their experiential learning at local kindergartens and elementary schools, experiencing activities in Seattle's beautiful natural environment and visiting American innovation centers that have produced Costco, Starbucks, and Google, helping them develop an entrepreneurial mindset to lead the world of the future.

Learning Salon
This is a Support Salon for school personnel, instructors, and parents who use SAPRK MATH/ENGLISH. The salon, led by the program’s author, Ms. Yuka Shimizu, draws on her 30 years of experience in founding and operating schools in the United States. It offers consulting and tailored advice to meet the challenges and needs of parents, educators, and school administrators supporting learners.
Educators or school staff facing challenges with current teaching methods are encouraged to participate. Individual users can choose from various online salon topics. These sessions also provide an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals worldwide.
This forum is designed for educators, administrators, and parents to come together to discuss, learn, and support each other. Members of Spark and Step can join for free, while general participants can attend at a discounted rate.
